«The Quiet», Letterpress

Elephant and Castle, London is entirely residential. It’s quiet. I recorded the sounds of six streets in the area. One can hear birds (brds), plane (pln), dishes (dshs), someone walking (wlk) or showering (shwr). I placed my quiet streets on a grid of a page. It’s set in Gill Sans 10 (the English «quiet» type), dressed in airy blue.

The grid is based on the proportion of the Coat of Arms of Ukraine. Strokes are inspired by Cossack typeface "Skoropys". Wavy lines are a tribute to poetic landscapes of Ukraine: fields of wreath, Carpathian mountains, the Black sea.
